Aiming is the most fundamental skill in first-person shooters. Whether you play Valorant, CS2, Overwatch 2, or Apex Legends, better aim directly translates to better performance.
Understanding Sensitivity Settings
Before training, find your ideal sensitivity. A common recommendation is a sensitivity that allows you to do a 180-degree turn with one full swipe of your mousepad.
Daily Warm-Up Routine (15 minutes)
- 5 minutes of tracking practice: Follow moving targets smoothly
- 5 minutes of flick shots: Snap to targets quickly and accurately
- 5 minutes of micro-adjustments: Fine-tune your aim on small targets
Crosshair Placement
Always keep your crosshair at head level and pre-aimed at common angles. This reduces the distance you need to move your mouse when an enemy appears.
Movement and Aim Integration
Practice counter-strafing (stopping your movement before shooting). In most FPS games, your accuracy drops significantly while moving.
Aim Trainers
Tools like Aim Lab and Kovaak's provide structured training scenarios. Spend 15-20 minutes daily on aim trainers before playing your main game.
Review and Analyze
Record your gameplay and review deaths. Identify patterns in your aim failures — are you overshooting? Undershooting? Reacting too slowly?
Consistency is Key
Aim improvement is gradual. Train consistently for 2-3 weeks before expecting noticeable results. Don't change your sensitivity frequently.
